The send off.....

Today was a special day .....the day that the whole of Dublin Dental Hospital and the friends and families of the Molar Rollers turned out to give the team a truly wonderful send off. Looking every inch the professionals - stunning in their Blue Cycle Tops emblazoned with more sponsors than Man United the Molar Rollers literally stopped traffic as their police escort accompanied them towards Merrion Square. Music blaring from the speakers, a crowd full of banners and cheers andwaving and hooting - with a master of ceremonies giving a running commentary, it was truly a memorable and emotional moment for all involved. As the molar rollers sat around the dinner table this evening in Arklow, 76km later and reflected on the day - all were in agreement that this was a truly wonderful feeling, never to be forgotten. Todays ride has been tough, with rain and driving winds for most of the day, but after a wonderful lunch provided by Margaret Woodlock in Newtown Mount Kennedy, the team dragged themselves up the tough hills and sprinted towards Arklow by mid-aftenoon, and certain the swimming pool and sauna and steam room at the Arklow Bay Hotel was so very welcome.
Tomorrow we ride to Rosslare........it's another tough day ahead - 86km to be precise....however one thing is for sure - the memory of the send off will encourage the team through the tough challenge ahead.
Thanks to all of you who turned out to support the 'Rollers' - as we have become known on the banners, and thanks for all the messages on Facebook and the banners along the road too.
